Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2, Last of Twilight Saga, Earns $141.3 Million On Opening Weekend. Launch Trailer

The final entry in The Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn Part 2, was a monstrous hit at the Box Office, debuting with $141.3 million earned in the U.S. alone, breaking records and placing it at #8 in the highest grossing film debuts of all time in the USA. It's worldwide numbers were $199.6 million bringing the worldwide total to $340.9 million! By contrast New Moon still holds the Twilight record, barely topping Breaking Dawn Part 2 by 1 million with $142 million in domestic sales during its debut.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 had the biggest male crowds of the saga, although 79% of the audience was still female. Breaking Dawn represents the swan song of the franchise, and is the final film in the twilight series, the second part of the two-part "Breaking Dawn" episode.

Twilight films now compose 3 of the top 10 openings, at #7 (2009's New Moon with $142.8 million) and #9 (2011's Breaking Dawn Part 1 with $138.1 million). The top film of all time in the US is The Avengers, which came out in May of this year and topped $1 billion worldwide and $207.4 million during it's debut weekend. Joining Twilight with more than one film on the top 10 is Christopher Nolan's Batman franchise, with The Dark Knight Rises #3 (with $160.9 million, it came out last July 2012) and The Dark Knight #4 (2008 with 158.4 million).

Breaking Dawn Part 2 topped last week's biggest movie, the new James Bond film Skyfall, which also broke records to become the biggest selling Bond film of all time.
